RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP
Total Executive encourage Responsible Leadership and Management
Responsible leadership encompasses other elements of leadership known as ethical leadership, social leadership and additional forms of leadership like creative and adaptive leadership.
Responsible leadership is however - a much LARGER concept - it begins at home - before a child is born.
It includes the communities we all grow up in and also enters into the world of business - across all of the various levels - from charities, not for profits and community projects to education facilities, government, small businesses - from the smallest sole trader - to enterprise at the largest corporate level.
A description of responsible leadership that we believe in is provided below

Responsible Leadership defined...
Responsible Leadership encapsulates every element that intrinsically you would expect from a leader. From a parent to a global leader.
Responsible Leadership begins before a child is born. Responsible Leaders help all they represent and 'responsible for' improve their capabilities, skills and knowledge.
Responsible Leadership articulates every positive aspect you would expect from a leader who wants to improve life for those they impact across our planet.
Our belief of what Responsible Leadership encompasses is summarised in this anonymous quote:
"Find out what you are good at
Do it to the best of your ability
Whilst helping those you love
and
Also those who need your love..."
We understand that the word 'LOVE' is probably the most mis-quoted word on our planet - though we all understand what it stands for... Everyone who has experienced love knows...
So if you are a leader of business - Responsible Leadership includes ensuring you are in business. Innovation is KEY in our modern world. To not be in business would be irresponsible when looking after employees.
To be in business and be irresponsible about simple things like 'appreciating the input of staff' or 'ensuring succession planning - replacing leaders when they leave' would also be irresponsible.
The world of responsible leadership is not an easy road to follow - the rewards are usually unexpected - the life of a responsible leader - in family, business, comraderie or society and everyone you meet - difficult - yet rewarding...
"Usually a responsible leader will need to walk against the flow of the majority - until they are understood..." - John Patrich
NOW,
The second consideration is "are you considering the anonymous quote above in your business?"

Ethical OR Social Leadership defined by Wikepedia...
Ethical leadership is leadership that is involved in leading in a manner that respects the rights and dignity of others7. “As leaders are by nature in a position of social power, ethical leadership focuses on how leaders use their social power in the decisions they make, actions they engage in and ways they influence others”7. Leaders who are ethical demonstrate a level of integrity that is important for stimulating a sense of leader trustworthiness5, which is important for followers to accept the vision of the leader7. These are critical and direct components to leading ethically4. The character and integrity of the leader provide the basis for personal characteristics that direct a leader’s ethical beliefs, values, and decisions7. Individual values and beliefs impact the ethical decisions of leaders9.
Leaders who are ethical are people-oriented7, and also aware of how their decisions impact others8, and use their social power to serve the greater good instead of self-serving interests7. In ethical leadership it is important for the leader to consider how his or her decisions impact others7. Motivating followers to put the needs or interests of the group ahead of their own is another quality of ethical leaders3. Motivating involves engaging others in an intellectual and emotional commitment between leaders and followers that makes both parties equally responsible in the pursuit of a common goal4. These characteristics of ethical leaders are similar to inspirational motivation, which is a style component of transformational leadership2. Inspirational motivation “involves inspiring others to work towards the leader’s vision for the group and to be committed to the group”7. Similarly, ethical leadership “falls within the nexus of inspiring, stimulating, and visionary leader behaviors that make up transformational and charismatic leadership”4. Ethical leaders assist followers in gaining a sense of personal competence that allows them to be self-sufficient by encouraging and empowering them7.
