What is Homophyly - Are your people choices heading into this territory?

This is a fascinating topic by the world renowned futurist Watts Waker. In this YouTube video from one of his presentations Watts explores the topic of 'Homophyly', which is defined as a 'resemblance due to common ancestry'.

In simple terms, Watts says it is the reason why if you have been married for 40 years you start to look like your spouse. It could also explain why organizations end up hiring 'the same types of people'.

Watts goes onto explain homophyly and how it relates to modern day society, which is somewhat disconcerting yet fascinating. The video is just over 6 minutes and worth a view. Unfortunately I was disappointed not to find any presentations from Watts Wacker on the TED site.
