The Sebel Cairns - Executive 5 Star Luxury - with great cuisine

Last night we stayed at the Sebel in Cairns. Frequent travellers to Cairns may remember it as the Cairns International.

It is a five star hotel with all the mod cons that an executive yearn for. The pool is great on level three with Gym and sauna and a nice warm spa available as well as added extras like table tennis, etc.

A waiter regularly comes by offering food and drinks which is a great touch - all the staff are very helpful.

The view from the pool level is spectacular - overlooking Cairns across to the ridge of mountains that extend south and all the way north to Port Douglas and beyond. The sky was clear on our visit, so we enjoyed working on our winter tan by the pool (well not really working on the Sunday - that came later).

Our room overlooked the harbour and out to sea - beautiful views - south to the coastal hills that pave the way to the aboriginal community of Yarrabah and out to the reef where we watched the tour ships arrive from like Quicksilver and others.

The Endeavour (Captain Cooks replica ship) was in the port last week when we came by to enjoy the local community pool, though had left by yesterday.

Coco's restaurant at the Sebel is very popular - particularly for their brunch on Sundays that goes to 5pm and is regarded as the best brunch in Cairns.

Straight across the road from the Sebel is Cairns Reef Casino for anyone wanting a flutter. They also have a variety of meal options available. The casino has seen many global high rollers attend whilst staying at the gateway to the Great Barrier reef.

During the day that followed the Wii spa was enjoyed by Sharon whilst I went out to meet some more of the people who work for the businesses that make Cairns and Port Douglas region tick as a premier tourist destination in Australia. Her report was that the day spa treatments were luxurious - a fantastic way to while away the hours.

Any businesses considering a conference for their executives and staff are also well catered for by The Sebel Cairns with conference facilities after which the executives can spend time by the pool, bar or one of the many restaurants and bars located within a short walk.

So when you stay in Cairns, consider The Sebel for a place to lay your head down and also enjoy the comforts and service of a five star hotel.
