Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas - An Executive Wonderland

Where to holiday next?

As you know, Total Executive encourage a lifestyle that includes fun and relaxation alongside the busy executive work itinerary.

This week I had the pleasure of visiting The Sheraton Mirage resort in Port Douglas - Far North Queensland with my family.

I have been visiting the region since I was in my mothers tummy and first visited The Mirage in the late 80's.

The Mirage has an enviable history with stories of great Australian rhetoric, beginning with one of Australia's most infamous fugitives - Christopher Skase. You can learn more about the Christopher Skase story here

David Marriner has recently purchased the Mirage and is about to invest in a multi-million dollar refurbish that will benefit the local region. He is in communication with government and local businesses on how the reburbishments and local infrastructure project can enhance the local economy and community.

They have started with new flat screen TV's in all the rooms

The Sheraton Mirage still does have a lot of appeal for executives and their families in it's current state however. It is a place where executives let themselves relax - rebond with family or colleagues and find out how to enjoy the kid at heart again.

This can be seen from the following series of images...

Sheraton resort main beach and lagoon

Every kids playground. The hardest thing is getting them out. Usually a good option is the promise of an enjoyable lunch in the overlooking Lagoons restaurant. Or, swim up to the Ocean Breeze Bar for a refreshing ice cream, drink or light lunch under the northern sun.

Sheraton Mirage seafood buffet

Seafood is of course in abundance...

Sheraton Mirage cocktails and mocktails

As are the cocktails and mocktails - have one whilst sitting in the lagoon bar side...

Sheraton Dessert

Don't forget the delectable desserts...

Sheraton Golf Course

Executives are known to love their golf and they will be spoilt at the Sheraton Mirage resort. A great way to walk off your lunch. There are plenty of golf buggies available as well if you are not up for the walk, or didn't bring your caddie.

Mirage waterfall

Another way to walk off your lunch is a pleasant exploration of The Mirage grounds...

As the resort shifts into night time the fun doesn't stop. There are a selection of places to eat, including a buffet restaurant meal at Lagoons Restaurant or a-la-carte alfresco dining at Il Pescatore.

Sheraton Mirage lagoon side rooms

The rooms are great as well. Much of the resort is surrounded by crystal blue lagoons which hotel rooms sit right over. Our family stayed in one of these, much to the bemusement of my two young girls. Just wake up and dive in.

Sheraton Lagoonside room

Rooms vary from lagoonside rooms like this one to large 4 bedroom Mirage Villa's - perfect as incentives / benefits for executive staff...

The Daintree Rainforest

From the rainforest to the reef - both are within easy reach for fantastic day or half day trips - letting you return to base at The Mirage for the rest of the day and night...

The Great Barrier Reef

Whether you travel to the reef by launch, sailing boat or helicopter - this magnificent natural resource is at your fingertips from Port Douglas

Formal and Corporate functions

If you are thinking of a "corporate executive bonding" it always helps to get away from the office and The Sheraton Mirage at Port Douglas can cater for your needs.

Sheraton Mirage Main Beach Night Function

Functions can also be held outside under the twilight - perfect for that executive convention. Executive boardrooms are also available for briefing sessions...

The proof of any quality resort is in the service you receive and the people you meet and from our visit I can say that the service was impeccable - always. We were treated with smiles and consideration, even during the occasional temper tantrum put on by my two year old daughter. Also, we met some great people whilst there and the girls were making friends everywhere. One thing I noticed was quite a few people had been returning here - after enjoying their previous stay.

I am sure that with the refurbishments, the Mirage is going to only get better as a location for executives and their families to travel. It appears perfectly set for all seasons with the facilities they have available - that during holidays includes a kids club for 4 to 12 year olds.

To be put in contact with the people that make your stay the best it can be - either ring the Sheraton direct on +61 7 4099 5888 or email them here
