Culture for NEW Business

Culture is your key to long term success - much more powerful than strategy

How are you finding influencer's / measuring results / recruiting the right people, etc?

Are you considering CULTURE and the influence that individuals within your business have on your culture?

As we move beyond 2011 and forge new directions beyond 2012 it is time for Australian's to look at what will be the NEW culture of business beyond 2020 and use that as our benchmark.

We NEED TO DEVELOP OUR CULTURAL COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE NOW

After interviewing hundreds of CEOs, thousands of Business owners and viewing enough politicians mistakes via media to make your head whiiiiiiirrlll - here are the latest statistics from Total Executives knowledge bank on culture...

[The statistics below are based on averages with discussion of over 1,000 business leaders]

Firstly - The Political ##$%???@@??

Over 91% of Australian business leaders believe Australian political culture inhibits Australia's growth and competitive advantage

Today past Prime Minister Kevin Rudd resigned

I can hear the 'phew' from so many business, government and educational leaders nationally and overseas - though the future in political upheaval for Australia is far from over and this reflects on how overseas countries and investors view Australian political culture and its influence on the stability of our economy...

Unfortunately Australian's are ready to give up on the 'politicians' taking the first step forward and putting a stake in the ground that will improve our future.

Most Aussies believe that there is no leader in Political Australia - what a shame that they all just blame each other - it shows a lack of political cultural integrity.

Spending $5billion on the education of future generations as a new concept may sound great if you have kids now - though it is an 'election promise' designed for 2014... so we know where that will end up - a tug-of-war...

Seniors have stronger voting influence and want that $5billion spent on their retirement.

And why wouldn't they expect it - there has been a pention for decades in the land of Oz. Though the magic is changing - we are starting to realise that the earth we sell via the mining companies that are the 'backbone of Australian economy' will not last forever and that a mining tax/etc will come far from providing a solution to our growing elderly population

Also, how will a green based environmental tax solution make a difference? It will need to be determined over coming years - the key will be investment in NEW industry that profits.

The lack of decision making as a direct result of our Australian political culture leaves all these areas of our economy in limbo - sitting on the fence.

As every Aussie knows, you can sit on the fence and listen to your neighbours ear - However, in the global economy it won't be long before the neighbours - ie Asia Pacific - look at ways to take business from their neighbours - ie The magical land of OZ

It doesn't take long before the magical wand switches hands and we already are speaking with many businesses looking at changing their headquarters to Singapore and elsewhere - even Eastern Europe.

NEXT - the Big End Of Town

Truth is that the Big end of town work to satisfy shareholders. This is a key theme reported through Total Executives extensive research on Responsible Leadership...

91% of executive respondents agree they do NOT have Responsible Leadership as part of the core values within their business.

96% of C-Level executives interviewed to date agree Responsible Leadership is core to their business future.

These facts show a major dysfunction of leadership belief compared to 'Reality'.

The key to developing Responsible Leadership within organisations is the transformation of CULTURE.

This theme is replicated over and over.

For the average 'mum and dad' investor the closest they will get to the big end of town is via their superannuation retirement fund - that is invested at the will of - the big end of town investors.

FACT1: The big end of town do provide employment for Australian's and we work very well for them

FACT2: The big end of town do look at overseas options that will work very well for them as well and will quickly transfer to overseas options in the future if it makes them more competitive

An option for Australian growth - Small Business...

84% of Australian leaders believe the Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) sector will have the biggest impact on Australia's future growth and national competitive advantage

This will always vary from industry to industry - though there is a small business up-swelling and it will soon grow much faster due to the flexibility within this sector.

It is why the large retailers are reconfiguring and reducing local staff...

It is why large business is returning to outsourcing...

It is why collaboration often extends beyond the walls of business and enterprise to new partners and in some cases - clients, customers and individuals...

It is how consumers are saving money...

The digital world is going to make a massive change for you, me and all we know once we understand its full potential...

Future generations already understand digital culture and they will become a large proportion of Australian business leaders by 2020.

There will be two key areas with the NEW Culture of Business that small business can take advantage of ahead of the big end of town as they can react faster...

The key is harnessing the power of digital communication - and have it describe and reflect your business Culture.

The fact is - when people find you digitally - they are immediately making assessment of your business and 'its Culture'. Your marketing and communications must reflect your core culture.

  1. Are you customer service focused?
  2. Do you make things easy for clients / customers?
  3. Is your brand aligned with the consumer needs?

Key Area #1 - Consumables / products you can buy anywhere - online:

The Best marketer's will survive - because information is at everyone's fingertips

The world already exists where your Smart Phone directs you to the wholesale provider where you buy direct at wholesale - just scan a QR code - often with free delivery - from the wholesaler - saving 10 - 200%+

If you do not know about the power of a QR scan code (above) -

Key Area #2 - Services and products you can't buy anywhere - yet:

The Best marketer's will survive - because information is at everyone's fingertips

Is your service as great as it can be?

Do your staff present your services and products in the best way that reflect a culture of quality client support?

If you present yourself with a style of service that is not delivered via your culture of business - the failure your client / customer received will soon be shared with many

The CULTURE of your business is where you should begin - get that right then afterwards the way you communicate with clients and the strategies you use begin with Marketing 101.

If your CULTURE is failing so is the future of your business - no matter how big you are, work on the future of your CULTURE as Priority.
